A planning application has been made to turn agricultural land into a dog walking field at land belonging to Rutland Water Camp Site, Gibbet Lane, Edith Weston, Rutland, LE15 8HJ.

This planning statement has been submitted in respect of change of use of agricultural land which is currently permanent pasture grazed by sheep to a fenced field which will be occupied by dog walkers from the local area.

If passed, this development will create a safe area for locals to walk their dogs without fear of them running off or having unpleasant meetings with other animals. It will form part of our farms diversification.

The application submitted is for the change of use of 2.9 hectares (7.23 acres) of agricultural which is located on Gibbet lane located behind Rutland Water Campsite. The land currently is grassland grazed by sheep therefore no alterations other than the erection a suitable fence would be needed.

The change would allow locals to rent the field in hourly slots and be able to have the sole use of the field. This would mean that dogs could be let off the lead which is currently prohibited around Rutland Water due to live stock and wild life. The dog field would be a secure area but also offering fantastic views over Rutland Water.

The field will be split in two and fenced with 1.8 meter high post and fence wire.

This application was made on 11 January 2023.
