Rutland Water earns Green Flag Award
Rutland Water has once again been recognised with a Green Flag Award.
Over 2,200 parks and green spaces across the UK have been recognised in the 2023 Green Flag Awards, and Rutland Water has retained its position in the government-led award scheme.
The Green Flag Award® scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
It is managed under license from the UK Government Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities by Keep Britain Tidy, who administers the scheme in England.
The purpose and aims of the awards are:
- To ensure that everybody has access to quality green and other open spaces, irrespective of where they live
- To ensure that these spaces are appropriately managed and meet the needs of the communities that they serve
- To establish standards of good management
- To promote and share good practice amongst the green space sector
- To recognise and reward the hard work of managers, staff and volunteers
A spokesperson for Rutland Water said: "We're delighted to be flying the Green Flag Award for another year running!
"Rutland Water, among other Anglian Water parks, has been recognised and celebrated as a vital green space for the community that brings people together and provides opportunities for a healthier lifestyle.
"Please join us in thanking our incredible team of staff and volunteers who work throughout the year to keep our park thriving all year round!"
