Ketton-based Baker's Dozen Brewery will celebrate their 10th birthday this Friday 13th June.

The brewery, which is run by husband-and-wife duo Dean and Jill Baker, has an incredible local reputation, as well as being recognised nationally as one of England's best independent breweries.

In the 10 years since their founded the brewery in 2015, Baker's Dozen has won multiple national champion awards, including a Champion Beer of Britain for their 'Electric Landlady' beer and a National Gold two years running at the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates Indie Beer Awards for their Undertow beer.

Co-founder Dean said: "There have been more than a few rocky moments over the years, especially post Covid lockdowns with energy prices shooting up. These are tricky times for the licensed trade, which of course has an immediate knock on to its supply chain, but we've stuck in there and knuckled down."

Jill, who was formally a licensee of The Jolly Brewer in Stamford, said: "It feels like a tale of two halves. We spent the first five years running a brewery alongside the pub as more of a part-time venture, working on recipes and building the custom based with the last five years post Covid where we both work full time at the brewery having left The Jolly Brewer."

Baker's Dozen has already started a series of celebrations to mark this special birthday, the first of which took place in March. They created the first of a selection of collaboration and special brews with Empingham Cricket Club where club steward Russ Hibbit and other members got involved in brewing these new beers.

They have also launched a new celebratory brew named 'Birthday Stout,' which is a 6.5% chocolate and vanilla stout.

"We had a celebration at our pop-up tap room event last weekend," said Dean, "and the party continues this coming weekend as we have a pop-up bar at the Lazy Crow festival at Stamford AFC."

Finally, they will round off the celebrations at the Rutland CAMRA beer festival at Oakham Museum where they will have a keg bar. The beer festival will be running between Thursday 27th and Sunday 29th June.
