Scammers have targeted the giveaway being hosted by a local business.

Rutland Rural Retreats, small and secluded glamping retreat set in the beautiful Rutland countryside, are hosting a giveaway to celebrate their first birthday, but the generous initiative has been over shadowed by scammers claiming to be them.

Run by Clare Farmer, Rutland Rural Retreats will be celebrating their first birthday in July and are hosting a 2-night-stay giveaway to celebrate.

To enter the competition, you must like 'like' and follow their page and share this post. The competition has already racked up over 300 entries.

However, scammers have been contacting those who entered the Facebook competition, sending them a link and telling them to click on it to claim their prize. The link is not genuine.

Clare confirmed that this is a scam, and that the competition winners will not be announced until 1 July, when the competition ends.

The team posted on Facebook to alert their customers of the scam: "So sad in todays world that the few try to spoil things for the many.

"A number of you have messaged with a screen shot to show a scam is going around telling people they have won and to click on a link. DON'T DO IT… this is not from us.

"This draw is still ongoing and the winner will be announced on 1 July as per our original post. We will announce on our page on that day. We will never ask you to click on a link other than if you are asking for availability, in which case we direct you to our website and the book now link at the top of every page.

"Stay safe from these scamsters! They take advantage at every opportunity and prey on the vulnerable!"

The scammers have also created a fake page. The genuine Rutland Rural Retreats Facebook page can be found here.

The team have reported this scam, and the page, to Facebook.

The team concluded: "Always be dubious of pages that have no like, no followers and no reviews. You can easily see the difference when you look at the fake page compared to ours."

Rutland Rural Retreats offer an opportunity for adults only to enjoy the rural Rutland countryside from their luxury Scandinavian-style pods.

Their pods are fully insulated and heated, and both contain their own en-suite, kitchenette, dining table and sofas. Outside, the pods have their own enclosed garden areas so that people can truly relax without the worry of keeping their dogs on leads. Each has their own sun loungers, fire pit and picnic table. Both pods also enjoy elevated outside decking areas for that early morning coffee or evening tipple.

What's best, is you can bring your dogs along to enjoy the fun too.

To enhance the experience, cars are left in a purpose built car park in previous field and luggage trolleys are provided to transport belongings the short distance from the car park. To reach the pods visitors will travel along a meandering lane, get to see the lovely horses on site, and finally cross over a bridge to access the private meadow where your stay begins.
