The seniors at Rutland Water Golf Course have welcomed the incoming captain, Rob Budgen this week.

It was the changing of the guard for the seniors section at Rutland Water Golf Course on Monday 9 January 2023.

Incoming seniors captain Rob Budgen started his year in office by leading the Captains Drive in in front of a vocal group of senior players who had gathered to wish him well for the forthcoming year and hope to see him scuff his drive off the first tee!

However, they were disappointed as Rob sent his drive straight down the middle, to rapturous applause.

Prior to his drive, Rob thanked the outgoing captain Stuart Westmorland for an enjoyable and well organised year in office and wished the gathering throng good health, good golf and good fun for the coming year.

Rutland Water Golf Club has a healthy seniors section, with Monday competitions regularly attracting over 70 entrants.

This season a full fixture list will see matches played against other clubs within the region run from March through to September and a number of mixed competitions with the ladies section, this year captained by Sue Ker, have been planned.
