Bellway is preparing to open two new showhomes at Barleywoods in Oakham, as the development in Braunston Road continues to take shape.
Roadworks have recently been completed to create a new entrance to the 62-home development, and to improve the condition of the main road.
The stone facades of the showhomes – a four-bedroom detached house named The Jeweller and a five-bedroom detached house known as The Watchmaker – are now visible from the road.
Interior designers will begin dressing the homes ahead of a launch event at the end of January.
Michaela Perkins, Sales Manager for Bellway Eastern Counties, said: "Construction at Barleywoods is progressing well and we're looking forward to showing people around the showhomes in the new year.
"We have a growing list of prospective customers who want to be first to see these properties and we will be inviting local businesses and community groups to join the launch celebrations.
"In addition to the showhomes, we will be preparing a 'House to Home' unit where customers will be able to view the various build stages of the property, see behind the walls and learn how a new home functions."
Barleywoods is located on an 8.3-acre site which borders Gorse Field Nature Reserve. Bellway is building 43 private homes and 19 affordable properties, which will be made available to local people through rental or shared ownership schemes.
While shared ownership has proven a good option for some Rutland residents, many have criticised the option and wish for more affordable homes to be built that are not shared ownership or 'fleasehold' - freehold but subject to management fees due to the land being managed by the builder or outsourced. This is common for many houses built in the area in recent years.
Barleywoods is Bellway's third development in Oakham. The company previously built 200 homes at The Maltings in Barleythorpe and 61 homes at Huntsman Drive on the former Parks School site.

While this development nears completion, Rutland County Council has called for feedback on the new Draft Local Plan, which proposes a further 2,460 new houses across Rutland over the plan period.
This comes as Rutland house prices are recorded at a whopping £133,000 above the national average.
The Draft Local Plan consultation is set to close on 8 January, although the local MP and parish councillors have appealed to RCC to extend the deadline. Read more here.
