Two men arrested after Uppingham gift shop burglary

Two men have been arrested and released on bail after an early hours burglary at an Uppingham gift shop.

A quantity of jewellery was stolen during the raid.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "On Wednesday, 19 August we received a report of a burglary at business premises in High Street, Uppingham.

"It was believed to have happened between 1.30am and 1.45am.

"It was reported that two people had broken into the shop and stole a quantity of jewellery before leaving the scene.

"On Friday (21 August) a 21-year-old man from Northamptonshire was arrested in Kettering on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling.

"On Saturday (22 August) a 28-year-old man from Northamptonshire was arrested in Kettering on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling and possession of cannabis.

"Both men have since been released on bail and enquiries are continuing."
