Rutland Farm Park is hosting its annual charity fun day this weekend, this year in memory of a much-loved local man and husband to one of the long-term staff at the family attraction.

Supporting St Barnabas Hospice, the team will be remembering 'Les Large', who sadly lost his battle to cancer last year. He and his wife, who works at Daphne's Tea Room at Rutland Farm Park, were supported by St Barnabas Hospice during his illness, and the team want to give back.

Located just across the border in Lincolnshire, St Barnabas Hospice is an independent Hospice charity that provides free, specialist palliative care for anyone who needs it across the local area.

To help raise much-needed funds for the charity, Rutland Farm Park will be hosting another of their popular fun days.

Join the fun at Rutland Farm Park from 11am until 4pm, where there will be:

  • Bouncy Castle
  • Hook a duck
  • Welly wanging
  • Cake stall – donations welcome
  • Wine or water – please donate a bottles of wine
  • Tobola  - donations welcome
  • Food, ice cream and lots more

Farmer Amy, who runs the farm and is heavily involved in organising the upcoming fun day, said: "As the fun day was such a big hit last year, we are doing it again, but this time in memory of Les, Jean's husband.

"Jean works in our tearoom part time and her husband, Les, sadly lost his short battle to cancer last year."

Last year, the team raised funds for Blood Cancer UK in memory of Farmer Amy's fiancé, Richard. The team raised nearly £2,000 at the 2023 event and, once again supporting a cause close to their hearts, they hope to raise much-needed funds for St Barnabas Hospice.

Amy added: "We would love it if we could beat our £2,000 target. In order to do this, we desperately need sponsors, donations and volunteers. We're looking for music, entertainment, and support from local businesses."
