As A-Level results were released across the country yesterday, students in Oakham have been celebrating their successes.
Harington School revealed that over 30% of outgoing students' grades were A or above, in line with the previous year's results. Additionally, over 85% of grades achieved were C or higher, with both of these figures above the national averages (27.6% and 76% respectively).
Head of School Oliver Teasel described the school's results as "fantastic" and praised students' "mature and professional" attitudes to their studies, adding how proud he was to see them progress to top university courses and further studies.
Alongside a number of highly-rated universities, such as Durham, Loughborough and York, there are six students from Harington who are moving on to complete degree apprenticeships, which continue to grow in popularity as an alternative to university study. These include local as well as national employers, such as Leicestershire Police.
Oakham School also praised their 2024 results, as 20% of A-Level and BTEC grades awarded were A*, with 70% at grade B or above.
Headmaster Henry Price commended students' "hard work" in achieving their results, whilst also recognising the support from parents and staff throughout their studies. Dr Leo Dudin, Deputy Head Academic, said the results were "wonderful", but also noted his pride at seeing "other successes that show pupils achieving their potential."
Following the similarly successful International Baccalaureate (IB) results last month, Oakham School can now await GCSE results day next week, Thursday 22nd August.
