Rutland Local History and Record Society has just produced the 44th issue of its annual journal The Rutland Record

This year's issue focusses on three main subjects: a mid-eighteenth-century tale of Lady Margaret Heathcote, the mysteries of the early medieval settlement of Bradcroft on the outskirts of Stamford, and an article on twentieth century musician and conductor Sir Malcom Sargent.

As is always the case with The Rutland Record, the issue closes with reports of local works carried out by record offices, local societies and any historical or archaeological matters of interest from the year.

Ian Ryder, Chair of the Rutland Local History and Record Society, said: "Once again, we are so grateful for the expertise of our contributors and their special interest in Rutland's long and varied history. The Rutland Record is free to members, and we encourage anyone and everyone with an interest in Rutland's past to join us."

Copies of this year's Rutland Record can be purchased for £5 from Rutland County Museum, from the Rutland Local History and Record Society or from local bookshops.

It is also available online on www.genfair.co.uk with IBSN-13: 978-0-907464-67-9
