The Plough in Greetham, and their generous patrons, have raised £85 for the National Military Working Dogs Memorial UK.

The team love their dogs, the pub itself being a dog (and child) friendly establishment. Now, they have been able to display the depth of that love by raising funds to help a national charity provide a memorial for all military working dogs across the UK.

The National Military Working Dogs Memorial charity, otherwise known as NMWDM (UK), was established in 2017 with the sole purpose to establish a memorial to commemorate the Military Working Dogs who bravely served their country in both World Wars and subsequent conflicts as in Bosnia Afghanistan and Iraq.

Our planned working dog memorial has been designed to represent all branches of the United Kingdom's Armed Forces. The memorial will have four bronze dog statues who have been specifically chosen and will represent all of the military working dogs who have bravely served their country.  Alongside the four bronze dog statues will be plaques with the names of many other loved military dogs.

Once built, the memorial will be located in Wales, NMWDM (UK) explaining that this is a "central location for the whole of the UK and Ireland."

The team at The Plough added: "Thank you to all our customers for their support, at Christmas time we sent off another donation from the pot which was in the village store, making the total raised a fabulous £85.

"The collection pot has now moved across to the bar where we will continue to support this good cause, along with our Air Ambulance collection pot."

The team will continue to support the local charity, Air Ambulance, who also have a charity shop on Oakham High Street.
