The judges from Britain in Bloom are visiting Uppingham today.

Judges are in Uppingham today as they make the rounds, judging villages, towns and cities across the nation for the 2023 in Bloom competition.

Britain in Bloom operates across the country and encourages green-fingered groups to get out and make their towns beautiful by planting flowers and shrubs in and around the local communities.

Hosted by the Royal Horticulture Society (RHS), the annual in Bloom competition recognises towns with particularly outstanding displays, as well as those who have brought the community together through their in Bloom volunteer gardening groups.

Kay Clark, RHS Community Development Manager, said: "Across the UK, groups are enjoying the benefits gardening brings both to their local communities and their own wellbeing. These groups are also trailblazers, trialling innovative ways to tackle environmental issues and engage their wider communities in the most pressing challenges."

Uppingham in Bloom are hoping to receive recognition in the 2023 awards, with the RHS representatives in town today to judge the hard work of Uppingham's local volunteer gardeners.

The group has previously won gold awards in both the regional and national finals.

This year, the team celebrated 40 years of Uppingham in Bloom - and with all that experience on their side, the team have high hopes for another successful year.
