There's loads going on this weekend with a host of events taking place in and around Oakham and Rutland this weekend.

Rutland Festival of Remembrance at Rutland Hall Hotel

On Friday 8th November, the Lord Lieutenant has organised Rutland's third 'Festival of Remembrance,' which will be held in the Pavilion at Rutland Hall Hotel. This will include a reception from 6.30pm and a concert from 7.30pm, including performances from The Cottesmore Military Wives Choir, The LNR ACF Corps of Drums, Uppingham School Pipe Band and songs from pupils at Rutland's secondary schools.

Thursday Night Dinner at Fox and Hounds

This week's specials at The Fox and Hounds (Fox and Hounds).

The team at The Fox & Hounds in Knossington be hosting their weekly Thursday night special on 7 November, and this week the team are serving up real ale battered cod, minted pea puree, thrice cooked chips with chunky tartare mayo OR homemade beef brisket lasagne with a mozzarella glaze, garlic bread and rocket salad.

For just £12.95, every week they put on a popular meal deal, and you can head down to 6 Somerby Road, Knossington to join the fun.

The Vaults Uppingham Beer Festival

Uppingham Beer Festival will take place this weekend, Friday 8th to Sunday 10th November at The Vaults in Market Place, Uppingham.

Each day there will be live bands and street food in the Market Place.

On Friday, between 7pm and 9pm, there will be a performance of Eddie Markey 'The Silver Fox and His Band in a Box,' accompanied by food from The Olive Kitchen.

On Saturday, between 8pm and 10pm, there will be music by The Rapscallions and food by Roast Baby from The Vaults.

On Sunday, between 4pm and 6pm, Tantric Specs will be performing alongside food by Woodfired Pizza Shack.

Music for Remembrance at All Saints Church

Held at All Saints' Church in Oakham, Music for Remembrance is a performance by Rutland Concert Band, featuring award-winning Soprano Katie Marshall. 

All songs will feature the central theme of Remembrance, with all proceeds being donated to the Poppy Appeal. This event welcomes members of the public starting at 7.30pm on Saturday 9th November.

Oakham Big Book Swap supporting Pancreatic Cancer UK

There will be a charity book swap in Oakham on Sunday 10th November.

The month's charity for the Oakham Big Book Swap is Pancreatic Cancer UK, with lots of books out to swap or donate your own unwanted books.

There will also be a raffle at 50p a ticket, a small selection of stationary and handmade items with proceeds being donates to Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Books will be available in the garage from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Sunday 10th November. See the event Facebook page for more details.

Whissendine Firework Spectacular

Hosted by The Friends of Whissendine Primary School, Whissendine Firework Spectacular will take place on Friday 8th November from 5.30pm. 

This event will include a performance from a live fire breather at 6.30pm, followed by a fantastic fireworks display at 7pm. 

Pre-purchased tickets can be bought in advance online or from Whissendine Mace Village Shop, with early bird tickets costing £6 for an adult and £5 for children over the age of 3. On the night, however, an adult ticket will cost £7 and a child ticket will cost £6.
