There's loads going on this weekend with a host of events taking place in and around Oakham and Rutland this weekend, from dog walks, a young musicians showcase and a special World Book Day junior parkrun.

Young Musicians Showcase with Rutland Sinfonia

Rutland Sinfonia are holding this special event at Oakham School Chapel, showcasing the talent of their young musicians.

The event is taking place on Saturday 8th March at 7.30pm and will feature Paul Hilliam as conductor, Felipe Klepin-Salles on piano and Evie Holder on Soprano.

Dog days at Easton Walled Gardens

Easton Walled Gardens are opening for your four-legged friends on Sunday 9th March from 11am-4pm. Bring your dog and explore Easton Walled Gardens in all it's springtime magic.

The Coffee Room and Courtyard Shop will be open until 4pm for delicious homemade cakes and refreshments.

Normal admission applies with dogs going free. Please only bring socialised dogs who are not in season. Dogs should be kept on their leads the whole time.

World Book Day Special Event at Rutland Water Junior Parkrun

Join other children dressed as their favourite book characters for this special junior parkrun and run alongside the Gruffalo, Willy Wonka and the Tiger Who Came To Tea.

Taking place on Sunday 9th March, this World Book Day spectacular will start at 9am from Normanton Church, South Shore, Rutland Water.

This is a free event but please register in advance with parkrun and bring a scannable copy of your barcode to get your time recorded. For more information on this, visit the Rutland Water Junior Parkrun Facebook.

Wild Wellbeing Walk with Rutland Canal Green Corridor Project and MindEmbody

From 10am on Saturday 8th March, the Wild Wellbeing Walk with MindEmbody with Oakham Green Corridor Project will focus on the team of light and dark. As we approach Spring Equinox, this walk will reconnect those involved with nature by looking at the importance of both light and dark.

Combining reconnecting with nature, stretching and visualisation, this walk is a great way to get in touch with yourself and the earth. For more information about this event, click here.

Thursday Night Dinner at Fox and Hounds

The team at The Fox & Hounds in Knossington be hosting their weekly Thursday night special on Thursday 6th March. This week they are serving up crispy carribean style chicken burger with pineapple salsa and smoked bacon ketchup.

For just £12.95, every week they put on a popular meal deal, and you can head down to 6 Somerby Road, Knossington to join the fun.
