There's loads going on this weekend with a host of events taking place in and around Oakham and Rutland this weekend, from an ABBA tribute to birdwatching at Rutland Water.

Rutland Spring Half Marathon

Walkers and runners are welcome to complete this amazing event at Rutland Water. Take in the beautiful spring landscape as you follow the route around the Hambleton peninsula.

This event, which is run by Pacesetters, will start from 9am on Sunday 6th April.

Easter Fun on the Farm

Rutland Farm Park has a whole selection of brilliant activities taking place this Easter Holidays. Between 7th to 21st April, Rutland Farm Park will be open from 10am to 5pm, perfect for family visits during the school holidays.

They have loads of activities to get stuck into, for kids and big kids, including arts and crafts, lamb feeding, guinea pig cuddles, pig feeding, pony treats, woodland walk, feed the animals and an easter scavenger hunt.

On Easter Friday and Sunday, there will also be the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny!

Lions Club of Rutland Virtual Easter Egg Hunt

Spring is in the air in Oakham and Easter is rapidly approaching! If you're stuck on how to keep the kids' entertained this school holidays, get involved in this year's Lions Club of Rutland's annual virtual Easter Egg Hunt. 

This event will take place on the 9th, 10th and 11th April between 10am to 3.30pm at Oakham Library. 

Everyone's a winner with this Easter Egg hunt, with all participants being given a Creme Egg (or fruit if you prefer) before you set off on your hunt and more treats are available for the teams once they return to the library with their answer sheet. 

Participants will need a mobile phone in their team, ideally with Whatsapp, for photos of the Virtual Eggs and to answer to the 20 questions. Alternatively, you can simply take photos on your phone and fill out the answers on the question sheet provided. 

This activity has been organised by the Lions Club of Rutland, a brilliant local charity organisation that regularly fundraises for local good causes, and supports events like the Rutland Show, Rutland Showgrounds firework display and the annual Santa sleigh run.

Ryhall Quiz Night

On Thursday 3rd April, Mike's quiz night is returning to The Millstone Inn in Ryhall from 7pm.

For the chance to win the cash prize, join in with the other teams in this entertaining audio and visual quiz.

Teams of up to six players are allowed, with the cost of £2 per player.

Guided Nature Walk with Jeff

Are you a nature novice or looking to try something different? Join this relaxing morning stroll and take in some of Rutland's incredible wildlife.

This intimate group walk gives tour guides time to explain the wealth of wildlife, habitats and local birds, plants and maybe butterflies. Jeff Davies is a local expert with experience in the wildlife around Rutland, that gives inciteful and fascinating tours that will be great for beginners.

This event will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm, starting from Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre. Click here for more information.

Thursday Night Dinner at Fox and Hounds

The team at The Fox & Hounds in Knossington be hosting their weekly Thursday night special on 3rd April. This week they are serving up baked lasagne, smoky pulled brisket and chorizo topped with mozzarella and cheddar. They are also serving smoked bacon and wild mushroom carbonara tagliatelle, dressed rocket and parmesan.

For just £12.95, every week they put on a popular meal deal, and you can head down to 6 Somerby Road, Knossington to join the fun.
