Peterborough Northern Star were the favourites coming into the game two divisions above the home side.
They play in the premier division but you can never write off the Oakham United boys.
Peterborough Northern Start kicked off with a long ball forward, some scrappy play near the left hand side meant the ball landed at the keeper's feet.
He got caught up with the ball and played it to their number 9 who attempted to take it round the keeper and deliver a cheeky chip - but number 5 for Oakham saved the day.
Five minutes in and a free kick for the Peterborough side in the centre circle reached the head of one of their players who headed it over the bar.
The ball was over on the right hand side, near the Oakham box, and was played into the middle.
A nice dummy from number 6 landed at number 9's feet and another shot went flying over the bar.
Some scrappy play round the Peterborough box nearly ended in a penalty, but the ref waveed it off.
The keeper, not having the best start, saw another ball almost goes through him and number 9 won a corner for the Peterborough side.
The game suddenly gots more aggressive as more challenges began to go in on the Oakham boys - but was once again waved off.
Oakham put some nice plays together imitating Barcelona!!
A strong challenge on number 8 for Oakham ended in a foul as the match heated up even more.
A short ball driven into the box ended in three shots being blocked.
A free kick on the left hand side missed several heads and ended with a shot into the back side netting.
A short free kick for Peterborough Northern Star...anddddd it went over the bar once again.
The Oakham corner saw a promising run from Josh Gooding . A good corner and a good header but it went just wide .
A mistake from Oakham's right back ended in a good pass from the left winger, a clinical finish from the number 9 and the home side were 1-0 down.
Just moments after, another quality play from Peterborough Northern Star ended in a good header but it bounced off the bar.
An absolutely class ball through to Oakham's Michael Nelson put it on a plate and finished perfectly into the bottom left corner making it 1-1.
That appeared to be the last chance of the first half after a solid performance from both sides
As the second half started, Oakham had an early chance from number 8 but it fizzled out.
A less eventful second half looked as if one player could change the game as both teams linked up play.
It seemed to be less elegant and the game turned into more of a fitness battle.
The last 20 minutes brought four subs for Oakham as a change of shape attempted to change the game.
Peterborough Northern Star attempted to break through the Oakham gaps as they were now playing with 10 men due to injury .
The last few minutes remained tense as a close attempt came flying in from Oakham from long range by number 6.
Good play from Oakham, working their way down the pitch, ended in a long range effort - however it spun out.
The game began to come to an end and the last effort was a optimistic toe punt from Peterborough Northern Star.
The game ends 1-1.
After a thrilling affair, the Oakham United lads didn't look two divisions below at all.
