Golf report by David Aldred: There was frustration for the lowest scorer in the May Medal, played on the Greetham Valley Golf Club Lakes Course, as Daniel Szymanski (17 handicap) scored an excellent nett 66 but was ruled ineligible as he had not played sufficient qualifying rounds to make himself eligible for competition placement.
Daniel had played an excellent back nine at 3-over par gross but was relegated on application of the rules. The overall winner therefore, also with nett 66, was John Keer (14) who had a great round with two birdies and nine pars but a struggle on the 11th prevented him finishing with an even lower score.
The Rutland County Golf Club Seniors match against Burghley Park was washed out after only nine holes. An amicable "half" was agreed as the result.
Holders of the Senior Summer Doubles, John Adkins and Alistair Scott, were knocked out in the first round by Ron Jenkins and Ray Taylor 2 and 1.
The manager who led Oakham United FC's promotion to the United Counties League for the first time in the club's history is back on the management team.

Last Sunday saw both the Gents and Ladies at Greetham Valley Golf Club competing in a Stableford Qualifier for their respective versions of the Colin Easson Trophy, writes David Aldred.
In the gents' event 141 entrants fought for supremacy but the eventual winner was Ken McCann (10) with a score of 39 points. Ken had birdies at the 6th and 10th holes, both par 3s, and was virtually faultless in his round apart from two double bogeys. He was particularly strong on the return half.
