Nub News – a new nationwide portfolio of hyper-local news and What's On sites – is seeking an ambitious and proactive reporter with a passion for local news to join its expanding team.

Based in the East Midlands, you will join an experienced editorial team currently managing five sites in Lincolnshire and Rutland (Stamford, Oakham, Bourne, Grantham and Market Deeping). The successful applicant will join as this cluster expands to include more town-centric news sites.

Kay Ropson, Greetham Valley Golf Club

It was Charity Chalice day on Sunday for players at Greetham Valley and in the (Ladies) Meadows World Charity it was Kay Ropson who had the best score of all players when she amassed 42 points on the Lakes course.

Playing in some very variable weather with intermittent torrential downpours Kay (handicap 9) played a remarkably steady round in which she reached the turn at gross par, thanks to successive birdies on holes five and six and continued very much in this manner on her way home, only dropping three further shots on her round, to end up with a gross score of 76 and four points clear of her nearest rival.

Sporting a high vis vest and hard hat, Lord-Lieutenant of Rutland Dr Sarah Furness climbed three storeys of scaffolding to celebrate a significant milestone in the building of the new Oakham Grange care home. 

A topping out ceremony is a modern twist on the ancient Scandinavian religious rite of placing a tree atop a new building to appease the tree-dwelling spirits displaced in its construction.

Just days after the town won a Silver Gilt Award in the town category of the 2019 East Midlands in Bloom competition, Oakham in Bloom is already looking to the future.

Joint-founder and current vice-chairman Joyce Lucas told Oakham Nub News today (Fri) that new projects are 'in the pipeline' - for which sponsors are now being sought.
