Come and enjoy a creative morning learning how to make beautiful porcelain botanical decorations - perfect for Christmas or to enjoy all year round.

We'll start with a short guided walk to gather leaves and flowers for use and inspiration. Then artist Kathryn Parsons will lead you through simple steps to create your own unique porcelain ornaments from soft porcelain clay (most people make 2 or 3 in the time available).

You'll learn how to imprint the clay with old lace, flowers and leaves. Then you'll be guided through simple steps to shape, texture and join little pieces together to create beautiful 'encrusted' decorations. Afterwards, your work will be taken away to be fired in Kathryn's kiln. It'll be available for you to collect from Barnsdale from early December.

Most of the techniques we'll cover will also work with air-drying or polymer clays, so you can make more in the future even if you don't have access to a kiln.

Suitable for adults, no previous experience necessary. All tools and materials provided. You're welcome to bring your own small piece of lace (must be washable).
