As part of our exciting growth, Oakham Shires School, part of Options Autism, is searching for a passionate and dynamic Secondary English Teacher to join our warm and dedicated team.

This is your chance to make a real impact-guiding autistic teenagers who've faced barriers in education and helping them unlock confidence, joy, and achievement through English Language and Literature at GCSE level. You'll also take the lead as our English subject specialist across the school.

About the Role

As part of our continued growth, we're looking for a passionate and skilled Secondary English Teacher to join our close-knit team at Oakham Shires School, part of Options Autism.

You'll be responsible for delivering GCSE English Teacher, supporting students across the school

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of autistic pupils who have struggled in mainstream education and need a tailored, compassionate approach.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Teaching English up to GCSE level in small class groups (max. 6 pupils)
  • Supporting learners with autism and developmental trauma, helping close gaps in learning
  • Adapting lessons to meet a wide range of abilities and individual needs
  • Creating a calm, supportive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Working with a team of passionate educators and therapists to help every child thrive

What We're Looking For

  • QTS / BEd / PGCE or equivalent
  • Proven experience of teaching English at GCSE level
  • Experience supporting SEN and/or disadvantaged learners
  • A compassionate, calm, and emotionally intelligent approach
  • Understanding of autism, trauma-informed practices, and behaviour as communication
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team
  • A Full UK Driving Licence

This role is not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

You'll work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, giving you more time to do the things that make you happy. 4DWW is subject to successful completion of probation and is not a contractual benefit
