Company

Young Innovators Club

We are a small, Rutland-based start-up looking to expand our after-school and lunchtime clubs program after a successful launch in January 2026.

At Young Innovators Club we teach programming, engineering, design and 3D printing to children aged between 5 - 14 years of age. We care deeply about inspiring the next generation to consider STEM subjects as "for them". We are not looking for expert programmers, as most of our code is fairly straightforward.

Instead, the idea is that the children learn to apply the code to solving problems, or creating engineered 'masterpieces', so please don't be put off applying if you only know the very basics.

What is more important to us is a strong belief in nurturing children's creativity and curiosity, as well as good behaviour management and time-keeping skills.

This role is offered in the first instance as a temporary, zero-hours contract; however, as we grow and expand, we are hopeful that this role can grow to be permanent and salaried, with opportunities for personal career development in other aspects of running a business, e.g. marketing and social media, sales, and administration.

The role will require travelling to multiple locations in the East Midlands, namely Oakham, Stamford, Bourne, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. Travel will be subsidised at the suggested government rate, but the candidate is expected to live within a commutable distance of these areas.

Please get in touch if you are unsure.

Duties

  • Assist the teacher in delivering engaging coding and STEM activities tailored to various age groups and skill levels
  • Support students in developing problem-solving, critical thinking, and computational skills through hands-on projects
  • Create a positive learning environment that encourages participation, creativity, and curiosity
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with special educational needs or diverse learning styles
  • Collaborate with programme coordinators to develop curriculum content aligned with educational standards
  • Maintain organised records of attendance, progress, and programme activities
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and colleagues regarding student development and programme updates
  • Travel to schools in the East Midlands (Oakham, Stamford, Bourne, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire)

Requirements

  • Proven experience in tutoring, working with or teaching children.
  • Strong communication skills to engage young learners and collaborate with colleagues effectively
  • Passion for creativity, technology, engineering, and education
  • Organised, enthusiastic, patient, and committed to fostering a positive learning environment
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in education or STEM subjects are advantageous but not mandatory
  • DBS on the update service, which will be provided if you do not have one.
  • You must complete certain mandatory trainings, such as Safeguarding, First Aid and Prevent before you can start
  • You must pass screenings such as a social media check and a prohibition-from-teaching check.
  • You must hold, or be willing to work towards, a minimum of a Level 2 in Childcare

Please send a CV and covering letter to [email protected] explaining why you would be suitable for the role.

Applications without a covering letter will not be considered.

We will be reading your applications ourselves (not using AI filtration).
