Coronavirus crisis: Rutland County Show receives revamp as Food and Farming Festival

By The Editor 4th Mar 2021

Rutland Showground is to replace this year's annual show with something a little different this year.

After the pandemic and related restrictions forced the cancellation of last year's Rutland County Show, uncertainty over how things might change have led to a new look this year.

Instead, the Festival of Food and Farming will take place at Rutland Showground on Sunday, July 11.

The festival promises a range of stalls and entertainment but no livestock judging this year.

Chairman of the Rutland Agricultural Society, David Wood, said: "This year we are being as creative as possible to deliver the best event we can given the tough constraints we are under."

The festival will be later than the regular show to give organisers and the public more time to get through the pandemic and its restrictions.

Already exhibitors a lining up for what organisers promise will be a fun-filled event that we deserve.

So far, they include a farrier demonstration, heavy horses and a sheep show.

Further details of the event can be found here.
