Oakham Nub News has joined forces with a regular reader to share a 'Cocktail of the Week' feature.

Josh here, and I hope that you have all had a good week.

This week's cocktail is the Strawberry Daiquiri. British strawberries are in season now, making this a great summer cocktail - even though the weather hasn't been quite so summery this week!

The daiquiri is named after the Southend Town in Cuba, meaning that it is a rum based cocktail, usually including a citrus juice.

Therefore we need:

  • 50ml of rum a good classic white rum
  • A splash of Overproof gives it a kick - Whay and Nephew, 15ml
  • 10ml sugar suryp
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 8 strawberries

Method:

  1. Cut the tops off of your strawberries
  2. Add them to a blender with all of your ingredients and a few ice cubes.
  3. Blend and pour into a coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with a strawberry and enjoy!

You can strain the cocktail to remove the seeds if you prefer it smooth. Image credit: Josh Tooley.

Check back next week for another Cocktail of the Week, shared each Friday to get the party started.

Alternatively, check out last week's cocktail feature here.
