Oakham Nub News has teamed up with a regular reader to share a 'Cocktail of the Week' feature, including classics, reinventions of familiar favourites and some crazy concoctions unique to Nub News.

Sharing some ingredients with a Cosmopolitan, this cocktail is a lovely mix of sweet and sour and, as the name suggests, is an impressive shade of ruby red made richer by the addition of Aperol.

Read on to find out how to make it...

Ingredients:

  • 25ml Aperol
  • 25ml vodka
  • squeeze of lemon juice
  • dash of bitters
  • lemonade

Method:

  1. put the Aperol, vodka and lemon juice in a shaker with ice
  2. shake until chilled
  3. strain your cocktail into the glass over ice
  4. dash over your bitters and stir in - this will give you the red colour
  5. top up with lemonade - depending upon the strength you like your cocktails

Check out our other Cocktail of the Week features by heading to the search bar at the top of the page and typing in 'Cocktail', allowing you to view the whole gallery of our popular weekly creations.
