14th Oct 2022 | Local Features
Rutland Photographer, Alan Walters, in conjunction with Stamford Diversity Group will be hosting an exhibition recognising the Ukrainian people and refugees living in the UK.
The exhibition is titled One World Week - Refugees: What's It Like To Flee Your Home.
This exhibition will be going ahead from Tuesday the 18th until Saturday the 22nd of October, at Stamford Arts Centre exhibitions.
Organised by the Stamford Fairtrade Group the 'One World Week' Exhibition is back at the Arts Centre Gallery, featuring:
- Displays of artwork and projects undertaken by local students and pupils
- Stalls promoting the work of local community groups
- Stalls selling fairly traded products (Friday and Saturday only)
- 'Moments of Peace' - a photographic project
The project aims to represent the lives of Ukrainian refugees in Stamford. It involves two images per family juxtaposing the harsh reality back home which never truly leaves them with moments of peace that they find here. This is a pilot display of an ongoing project by Alan Walters, a local photojournalist, in conjunction with Stamford Diversity Group.
Please join the team for the preview on Tuesday 18th October 7-9pm in the gallery where pianist Fergus Black will perform a set and there will be poetry from Stamford Poet Laureate Scott Coe and Inaugural Youth Poet Laureate Daniel Paice.
The bar will be open and fairtrade snacks available.
Entry is free and all are welcome.
See you there.
