The Met Office has issued weather warnings across the UK, with a cold snap and snow expected in Rutland between midnight on Saturday 4th and 9am on Monday 6th January.

According to Dan Holley, Deputy Chief Forecaster for the Met Office said: "An Atlantic frontal system is likely to move across parts of central and southern UK through the weekend. [...] We've currently issued a yellow warning for snow covering a large part of England, Wales and southern Scotland to cater for possible disruption over the weekend."

From Friday 3rd January, temperatures are set to drop below zero, continuing through the weekend bringing snow. There is a small chance that the county will see power cuts and problems with mobile phone service. There is a slight chance that some rural areas will become cut off if roads become dangerous to drive on and this may cause travel delays on road, rail and air, with the chance of vehicles becoming stranded.

To keep up to date with the latest advice, follow Rutland County Council's Facebook Page and check the Met Office's updates.
