MP for Rutland and Stamford Alicia Kearns has announced her pregnancy in a statement on Facebook.

In a statement released on Facebook on Christmas Eve, Alicia Kearns said: "We are excited to share with you that we are expecting a little one to join us and complete our family next year.

"We're overjoyed, but it's been a difficult few weeks for us as sadly I was hospitalised for a week in December due to severe complications and then put on bed rest. I'm not out of the woods just yet, and a high risk pregnancy has its difficulties, but we're all hoping it will all settle down and we'll have happy news next year.

"I'll be spending Christmas resting and trying to get back to full strength ready for the demands of 2025 and all I want to deliver for our communities, I look forward to seeing many of you then!"

Last week, Kearns gave a statement to Nub News reflecting on her year and looking forward to 2025.
