A live music event set to take place at The Admiral Hornblower, that had already faced a turbulent week of changes, cancellations, and cut-backs, has been cancelled upon the announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

On Saturday night, the 10th of September 2022, an evening of live music from Elvis and Take That tribute bands was set to take place at The Admiral Hornblower. However, upon the announcement of Her Majesty's passing, the organiser, Carlyon Acton-Reed, has taken the decision to cancel the event out of respect.

Event organiser Carolyn Acton-Reed said: "After the very sad news of the death of the Queen, we have decided to cancel tomorrow night's music at The Admiral Hornblower.

"All ticket holders have been emailed and we will announce a new date as soon as we can."

The event had already faced a turbulent few weeks, the music initially planned for Friday the 9th and Saturday the 10th of September, including local band Manky Beds and popular local tribute, Bon Giovi.

This was set to take place at Rutland Showground, however ticket sales were not high enough. As such, the event was moved to Oakham Rugby Club to coincide with their 100 years of ORFC event on Saturday.

Amid further confusion, the Friday night of music was cancelled completely, meaning that Manky Beds and Bon Giovi would not be hitting the stage. The event was also moved to The Admiral Hornblower and would be taking place this Saturday, the 10th of September.

With the announcement that Queen Elizabeth II "died peacefully at Balmoral" on Thursday the 8th of September, the event has been cancelled indefinitely.

Residents can expect the evening to be rescheduled after the mourning period for HRH has passed.
