Adult learners showcase artwork at Rutland County Museum

A special exhibition showcasing the creative work of adult learners from across Rutland has opened at Rutland County Museum.
The exhibition by students and staff at Rutland Adult Learning and Skills Service (RALSS) features art, ceramics, floristry, glasswork and photography – all courses that can be taken at the Rutland Adult Learning Centre.
RALSS provides opportunities for adults to improve their skills through a wide range of academic and vocational programmes, as well as offering a variety of arts and crafts courses.
Councillor David Wilby, Cabinet Member for Education at Rutland County Council, said:
"Learning isn't just about qualifications. We believe it should also be for enjoyment and personal development – to pursue interests and promote wellbeing. "RALSS arts and crafts courses are taught by friendly, experienced tutors, with access to specialist equipment. They're a great way to learn a new skills, build confidence and make friends." The RALSS Arts and Crafts Exhibition is being held at Rutland County Museum, in Oakham, and runs until Saturday, 8 June. The museum is open from 10am until 4pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and entry is free. Debbie Bird is a tutor at the Rutland Adult Learning and Skills Centre and said: "It has been an absolute pleasure to be involved with the curation if this exhibition.
