The Met Office has issued amber weather warnings for extreme heat for Monday 22 to Thursday 25 this week with temperatures predicted to reach as high as 39 degrees.

This period of high temperatures is expected to have 'widespread impacts on people and infrastructure' across the Midlands.

On Monday and Tuesday, a combination of high temperatures and rising humidity will bring temperatures up to 34 degrees and will stay about 20 degrees at night in some places.

On Thursday, a weather warning is in place for extreme heat, warning the public that there is a high risk to health as temperatures reach above 30 degrees and even pushing 38 to 40 degrees in some areas.

During hot weather, it is important to stay hydrated, reduce sun exposure in the hottest hours of the day and be aware of possible disruptions to transport.
