Ambulance and two cars involved in accident on A606 near Whitwell

An ambulance and two cars were involved in a collision on the A606 near Whitwell yesterday (Mon) evening.

The incident happened on the main road towards Empingham.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman told Oakham Nub News this morning: "We attended a road traffic collision at 6.50pm involving two cars and an ambulance vehicle.

"Helimed also attended.

"Six people sustained injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

"Four casualties were taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham and one to Peterborough City Hospital."

The air ambulance transported one of the casualties to Queen's Medical Centre.

Details of where the sixth casualty was taken were unavailable.

The road was closed for more than six hours and reopened at 1.15am today (Tues).
