A local garden centre and its users have raised £2,000 for a Rutland-based charity that supports individuals living with life-limiting illnesses.

Gates Garden Centre and the generous patrons at the family-run shopping centre and outdoor village have raised £2,077.40 to support their Charity of the Year, Dove Cottage.

Dove Cottage Day Hospice is local charity that has been caring for adults since 1996. All of their care services are provided free of charge to those living locally with an advanced life-limiting illness.

Their aim is to offer care and support for you, your families and carers through their day care and family support services, including but not limited to workshops, support groups, therapists and bereavement services.

The team at Gates, who raised the funds during their 75th anniversary celebrations earlier this year, said: "Thanks to all those who took part in the Gates 75th Anniversary Raffle and who dropped a coin or two into our fountain or collection boxes.

"We've raised over £2,000 for this wonderful organisation that offers high quality palliative day care to people in Leicestershire, Rutland and Nottinghamshire who are living with a life-limiting illness."
