The annual fundraising quiz hosted by a local hedgehog rescue centre has raised over £1,250.

Prickleback Urchin Hedgehog Rescue is a local rescue centre for hedgehogs, founded and run by married couple, Rachel and Jay and supported by a team of Trustees, Nat, Neil and John.

The duo run the rescue centre from their home alongside work and family commitments, and pay for most of the treatment and care of the hedgehogs they rescue themselves and through private donations.

This year, they hosted their third annual fundraising quiz night to help support the medical care costs for their prickly inmates.

With support from attendees and local businesses, who donated raffle prizes for the event, they raised just over £1,250.

The Prickleback Urchin Hedgehog Rescue team said: "Thank you so much to everyone who attended, donated, bought raffle tickets and contributed to a wonderful atmosphere yet again.

"We raised just over £1250 which is absolutely breathtaking and will enable us to continue to help the hedgehogs of Rutland that get in a pickle!

"The Trustees (Nat, Neil, John, Jay and I) would like to say a special thanks to the following wonderful people.

"Firstly of course the quiz masters Richard and Stan for all the months of hard work preparing the quiz, to Donna for running the raffle (and much more besides) and Barby and Anneka for selling tickets! Thank you to the Anneka, Tom, Gary, Jacqui and Jane for being our marking team.

"Thank you to manager Nick and the team at Victoria Hall, Oakham, Rutland for the venue and all the help preparing for the event and to the team from the Grainstore for running the bar."

On top of this, the team hosted a raffle, supporting their fundraising efforts and shining a spotlight on local creatives, brands and business who donated goods and experiences.

If you would like to support the cause, Rachel and Jay have set up an Amazon Wishlist, where local people can send donations of food, medical supplies, and much more direct to their home.
