Award-winning children's author and poet Joseph Coelho will be dropping in to Oakham Library for a special visit on August 6 at 11am.
The visit is part of a library marathon challenge that Joseph has set himself to join a library in every library authority in the UK, promoting and celebrating the work they do.
Joseph, who has written a number of popular books including Luna Loves Library Day, will be handed his new library card and readers young and old are invited to come along to the open event and find out more about the services offered at their local library.
Councillor Lucy Stephenson, from Rutland County Council, says: "We are very excited to be welcoming Joseph Coelho to Oakham Library and delighted to support him on his nationwide quest.
"Oakham Library is at the heart of the community and does so much to support residents of all ages, backgrounds and interests. We hope the visit will encourage more people to find out about the library and perhaps even inspire a new generation of writers.
"Whether you're a fan of Joseph's work or keen to find out more, I'd encourage you to come along, enjoy the event and discover the wonderful services the library can offer you."
Joseph will plot his progress on a map on his website at: www.thepoetryofjosephcoelho.com. He will also tweet and blog his journey around the UK.
Membership of Rutland Libraries is free and open to anyone who lives, works, studies or is visiting the county. Rutland Libraries are currently taking part in the 2019 Summer Reading Challenge, which challenges children between the ages of 4 and 11 to borrow and read any six library books over the summer. The theme for 2019 is the Space Chase, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.
