Award winning coffee company moves closer to town

An award winning coffee company is planning a new headquarters.
Two Chimps Coffee, which was set up in 2016 by photographers Andy Cross and Laura Shead, has submitted plans to change a warehouse in Pillings Road in Oakham into a new roastery and shop.
The company, which just last month won a slew of business awards, has submitted proposals to planning authority Rutland County Council for the work to the industrial unit. It currently has its headquarters and shop at Oakham Enterprise Centre.
In a social media post about the move the small business, which employs several staff, said: "Thanks to our coffee lovers, we needed more space to roast all our speciality brews.
"Don't worry we won't have to close during our move. Our renovations will be complete by the time we move in and once our roaster is set up, we are good to go."
The planning application is requesting permission to divide the space at 51 Pillings Road, into two independent units and change its use from warehousing.
The existing metal shutters at the front will be replaced with a new entrance and an oil storage tank will be removed. New business signage and external lights will also be installed. A small store at the back will be demolished and a roastery flue will be installed. Inside, the existing toilets will be removed with new offices and toilets and both units will have a mezzanine floor.
The application will be decided at a later date by the planning authority.
