More on-demand buses to be rolled out across Rutland this summer

New on-demand buses will be rolling out across Rutland from 4 August 2025.
It means all areas of the county will be completely covered by on-demand services.
An on-demand bus allows passengers to book journeys along non-specified routes. The aim is to help connect villages with main bus routes, which then provide onward travel to larger destinations.
Passengers can book pick-ups and drop-offs using Callconnect's smartphone app or over the phone, with as little as one hour's notice.
The on-demand service was launched on 31 March this year, in a zone covering the north west of the county between Oakham and Melton.
Already, more than 1,500 passengers have used the service in its first two months of operation.

Councillor Christine Wise, Cabinet Member for Transport, Environment and Communities at Rutland County Council, said: "Use of Rutland's new on-demand bus service has been fantastic in the north of the County and we're looking forward to completing the rollout in other areas this summer.
"With full on-demand coverage across Rutland, we're going to have villages and communities that will be able to access a bus service for the first time ever.
"This is what we mean when we talk about making public transport available to more people, in a way that's more cost effective for the Council and greener for the environment."
Cllr Wise added: "Our upcoming roadshows are a great way to learn more about the new service. There's no need to book, just turn up where one of our team will be available to answer your questions and give you information on how to register, book and use the buses."
