Bank Holiday Summer Bonanza marks end of season of live music in Cutts Close
The Cutts Close Summer Bonanza will mark the end of a summer of music in Cutts Close this Bank Holiday weekend.
To round off a fantastic season of live music in the park, organised by Oakham Town Council, a host of bands will be performing on 27 and 28 August 2023 in Oakham's Cutts Close.
Enjoy music from 12pm until 5pm on both days.
Indulge in drinks from The Grainstore and Ovation, and pizza from Oakham's favourite GRIFF's Pizza, as well as cakes and goodies from Rutland Guides, who will be fundraising for their own events and activities.
There will be chairs provided by Oakham Town Council, but feel free to bring a blanket or chairs and a picnic. Entry to the event is free, but Councillors will be collecting for the mayor's charity, which this year is the Rutland First Responders.
A tombola will also be taking place to support the wonderful organisation, made up of volunteers who give their time freely to help save lives in the local community.
Responders are trained in the use of Automated External Defibrillators and the treatment and control of a wide range of potentially life threatening conditions.
First Responders provide support to the regular Ambulance Service by attending serious and life threatening 999 calls in and around the community to provide the earliest possible intervention for patients in the first few minutes until the arrival of an ambulance.
They are completely self-funded, and it costs approximately £2,500 to equip each member of the team. As such, without the generous support of the community, they could not operate.
This is why support from local officials as well as members of the public is so important for the group.
Chair of Oakham Town Council and Oakham Mayor, Sally-Anne Wadsworth, said: "This weekend offers a fun line up! On Sunday between 12pm and 5pm we have Midnight city Band followed by The expletives. Then on Monday between 12pm and 5pm we have the Travelling Sideliners performing, followed by Vesper.
"This will conclude this years musical sunday afternoons in Cutts Close. All of this year's live music events have been very well attended, and even with the rain falling people were still happy to sit and listen with the rain macs on or brollies up - and they helped acts clear up their kit when the rain got heavy, which was great to see."
The 23rd Rutland Beer Festival will also be taking place this weekend, if you love good food, great company and even more live music.
Alternatively, check out our What's On page for more events going on from Thursday until Monday as a part of the August Bank Holiday celebrations.
Have a great bank holiday weekend!
