Local pub to reopen under new management
A local pub will be reopening on Friday under new management.
The Noel Arms at Whitwell will be reopening on Friday 25 August, just in time for the bank holiday weekend, following a short closure in which the new team have refurbished the venue.
The venue closed in late June as the previous landlord - and his son, who was the chef at the popular rural eatery - moved to take over The White Horse in Empingham.
Following this, Kevin Kavanagh and Karen MacGregor took over The Noel Arms on 22 June 2023.
They said: "We are very proud to have this opportunity as it has always been a dream of ours to live in Rutland and have a restaurant, pub, hotel.
"We are carrying out major renovations and refurbishments and bringing the The Noel Arms back to life. All of which are being done with an abundance of love and attention to maintain its heritage but with modernisation.
"We have carried out works on the bar and bar dining area but this will be constantly changing over the next six months with the plans we have in place.
"Our website will also be fully functional from October 2023 whilst we complete works and get our team together."
However, the Rutland Water, Whitwell village venue will reopen on Friday 25 August and, going forward, will open:
Monday, 5pm - 8.30pm (last orders)
Tuesday and Wednesday 12pm - 8.30pm (last orders)
Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 12pm - 9pm (last orders)
Sunday, 12 midday - 5pm (last orders)

The website will be up and running soon,
The duo concluded: "We have plans for the next two years, which involve huge changes and is very much a labour of love and this will not stop!
"If you have been before, then we cannot wait for you to see our improvements, which are very exciting.
"We look forward to welcoming you at The Noel Arms."
