23rd Rutland Beer Festival

The 23rd Rutland Beer Festival held at The Grainstore Brewery, brings together a wide range of real ales from around the UK. Featuring over seventy Real Ales with an array of golden ales, stouts, bitters, porters and barley wines we also offer a wide selection of traditional ciders.

There's live entertainment and barbecues every day.

Over this August Bank Holiday weekend, opening times will be:

Thursday 24, 5pm until Midnight

Friday 25, 11am until 1am

Saturday 26, 9am until 1am

Sunday 27, 9am until 1am

Monday 28, 9am until 11pm

Admission is free. There is a deposit of £5 on a commemorative Rutland Beer Festival glass, which is yours to keep, or return for a full refund.

Whissendine Flower Festival

Come and join the community at Whissendine Flower Festival on August Bank Holiday - 26 to 28 August - and be totally inspired by the wonderful flower arrangements at Whissendine Church! 

This year's theme is `Poetry, Verse & Rhyme' and will see local creative make displays inspired by their favourite poems.

Indulge yourself with delicious homemade cakes being served in the lovely village hall all weekend, and why not finish your exciting visit with a little tipple in the fantastic local, The White Lion Inn?

Teddy Bear Picnic

Just a short drive from Rutland, on 26, 27 and 28 August, Rockingham Castle will be hosting their Teddy Bear Picnic! 

Visitors will have the exciting opportunity to interact with Goldilocks and the Three Bears and take part in the Teddy Bear Trail around the estate. Goldilocks and the Three Bears will also be reading from the story telling tent at times slots through the afternoon. 

The inside of the Castle will be decorated with Teddy Bears, who will 'bear' special clues, helping the children solve the themed anagram in the activity booklet. 

Take part in the Teddy Bears Trail around the formal gardens and enjoy light refreshments in Walker's House tearoom. 

This event is perfect for all children and families who are looking for some summer holiday fun - don't forget to bring your favourite bear!

Burghley Summer Fine Food Market

On 26, 27 28 August, join the team at Burghley House for a summer celebration of food and drink, showcasing the best in local and international produce.

A host of artisan stalls and street food vendors from across the region and beyond will fill Burghley's picturesque courtyards over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Discover a world of tastes and flavours including Persian street food, wood fired pizzas, locally distilled gins and award winning ciders. The perfect place to get together with friends and family, soak up the atmosphere and relax in beautiful surroundings.

Rutland Library Big Book Sale

Oakham Library will be hosting its second Big Book Sale on 26 August 2023. 

From 9am until 1pm, bag some books, DVDs, magazines, videos, comics and more for as little as 10p.

There will be adult and children's literature.

Live Music at The Plough

On Saturday 26 August, The Plough in Greetham have live music from Jools, who will be singing a range of songs from the 60's to modern day. 

Music starts at 8pm, and tables are available to book for food earlier in the evening. Book on 01572 813613.

Family Fun Day

Join the Bank Holiday Family Fun Day at The Old Buttercross on 26 August from 12pm until 5pm.

Enjoy soft play and bouncy castles with other families, and indulge in food and drinks, available to buy throughout the day.

All are welcome at the event at The Old Buttercross, Panniers Way, Oakham.

Cricket, Bingo and Live Music

Enjoy a free afternoon of cricket and live music at Empingham Cricket Club on Saturday 26 August. 

Cricket begins at 1pm, and live music with Barbarita and other local musicians will kick off at approximately 7:30pm.

Then, on 27 August, the team will be hosting a charity family disco and bingo night.

Bingo will begin at 3:30pm and the disco will tea place from 5pm. 

Bingo booklets cost £10.

Live Music at The Barnsdale

On 27 August from 12pm until 4pm, Ann Duggan will be performing live at Barnsdale Gardens with her guitarist Rob Hines. 

Annie is known for her powerhouse and soulful vocals and Rob Hines for his distinctive wonderful finger-picking guitar playing that has earned him the nickname "The Wizard" . 

Together they deliver with an energy and a passion that takes you on a musical journey that touches the heart of any audience. 

At the same time, why not enjoy one of our perfect summer Barnsdale Picnics on the lawn.

Rocks by Rail Open Day

On 27 and 28 August, Rocks By Rail is hosting a family Open Day from 10am until 4pm.

Take a trip on The Rutlander train and explore the Ironstone Quarry Railway Day at Rocks By Rail, Ashwell Road, Oakham LE15 7FF.

Cutts Close Bank Holiday Bonanza

To round off a fantastic season of live music in the park, organised by Oakham Town Council, a host of bands will be performing on 27 and 28 August 2023 in Cutts Close. 

Enjoy music from 12 pm until 5pm. Indulge in drinks from The Grainstore and Ovation, and pizza from Oakham's favourite - GRIFF's Pizza!

There will be chairs provided by Oakham Town Council, but feel free to bring a blanket/chairs and a picnic.

Langham Village Street Market

Langham Village Street Market will be taking place on 28 August, 10am until 3pm.

Come and have a fantastic day out on Bank Holiday Monday, 28 August, with 100 stalls expected selling everything imaginable.

As well as the private market stalls there will be all the usual very popular Village Hall stalls: bric-a-brac; books; tombola and a raffle with fantastic prizes. Food and refreshments will be provided in the Village Hall all day and the Wheatsheaf public house including their Barbecue on Church Street.

The Grand Raffle will have a huge number of prizes including cash and various vouchers for meals/services etc. Other attractions for everybody in the family to enjoy include two displays by Rutland Morris Men, a display of Classic Cars and children's games in the Parish Church and Churchyard.

Bank Holiday Roast

On Bank Holiday Monday, 28 August, the team at The Fox and Hounds in Knossington will be open for a roast dinner style lunch menu and beef or pork baps. 

Come over and celebrate the bank holiday with us. Ring to reserve a table to avoid disappointment. Book on 01664 452129.

Food will be served between 12pm and 6pm. The pub will stay open for drinks until 11pm.
