A photo competition is set to take place in Oakham this December, and competitors could win big prizes as an early Christmas treat.

Roxanne Sugars, who runs the Oakham Online Community UK Facebook group, is getting ready to host a festive photo competition in partnership with a host of local businesses.

Top prizes are up for grabs in the competition, and Oakham Nub News have been given the honour of announcing the winner in December.

Prizes include gift vouchers from local businesses such as Olive Oakham and Ovation Wine & Spirit Bar and the top prize of a meal for two at a popular Rutland-based restaurant.

Roxanne Sugars said: "It's almost here! It's almost time for the big announcement on 1 December!

"Get ready to take part in our photo competition for your chance to win some amazing prizes donated from our generous local businesses. We can't wait to see your entries and thank you to all the businesses for their support.

"It's been an incredible start to our competition for the locals! We've already got some amazing prizes from some special people totalling well over £50 worth of vouchers from local businesses, a delicious three course meal, some fun family activities and even more!"

The competition will see entrants submitting one photo a day from 1 until 24 December 2023.

Each day has a theme or category, and entrants are encouraged to be creative.

Then, group participants will vote for their favourite photos in each category. Each household is allowed to submit one entry per category.

The competition will be launched on 1 December, so be sure to follow Oakham Online Community UK on Facebook for competition news and updates.
