Langham creative artist Sarah Hatherill is staging her first solo exhibition at Four Walls gallery in Melton Mowbray.

'Bikes and Blooms' is a range of surface design and textiles - decorative pieces which tell the story of her adventures in France and Rutland.

The pieces feature motifs inspired from rural life; beautiful bikes (and races), butterflies as street art gutsy creatures and gardening as a competitive battle ground of nature versus perfection, all produced in her Banksy-inspired moody style.

Motifs are paired with loose washed colours and painted surfaces, originals are created on art board or Arches paper using water based paints and product. There are also some prints, greetings cards and cushions.

Sarah loves rural life and enjoys the theatre of a high street.

Alongside her commercial work she has always painted and written poetry which she has previously kept hidden. Some of her writing is featured in the exhibition interpretation panels.

She is an advocate of the environment and is particularly interested in materials and sustainability.

Whilst creating the work for the exhibition she has also been Grand Ideas Officer, creating and promoting the campaign for Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust which closes at the end of November.

'Bikes and Blooms' at Fourwalls, Melton Mowbray - opposite St Mary's Church - LE13 1AE runs until the 29 November.
