The Bird Fair 2024 in Rutland promises to be a spectacular event for bird enthusiasts, conservationists, and nature lovers alike.

Set to be held from 12 to 14 July, the annual bird fair is back at Rutland this month - although with a few changes. The key change is the venue, which will now be Lyndon Top rather than Rutland Showground. There will also be glamping, evening entertainment, food and much more.

This annual gathering, often dubbed the "Glastonbury for birdwatchers," will once again bring together thousands of visitors from around the globe to celebrate the beauty and diversity of birdlife.

The Bird Fair has long been a cornerstone event in the birdwatching and nature-lover's calendar. It has grown from a small, local event to an internationally renowned festival, but its mission remains steadfast: to raise funds for global bird conservation projects while fostering a love for avian wildlife.

On the cards this year are key speakers, exhibitions, art and crafts, food and drinks, live entertainment, daily lectures, fundraising and conservation initiatives and more.

All events and exhibitions aim to highlight the intersection of art and nature, inspiring conservation through visual storytelling, communication and networking.

The team also have a shuttle bus available between Oakham Railway Station and the Global Birdfair site at Lyndon Top. First Shuttle around 8:30am from Oakham Station - running on 12, 13 and 14 July.

Bicycles can be ridden to an allocated area near the event entrance where they can be left during your visit to Global Birdfair. Bicycles are not permitted on the event site.

There is ample free car parking at Lyndon Top including forward parking for those with Disabled badges and those who require mobility assistance during the event. Attendees have been asked not to park on the roads approaching the event or in the Rutland Nursery or Golf Club.

In addition, local volunteers will be supporting the success of the event.

The event is open to the public from 9am to 9pm on 12 and 13 July 2024 and from 9am until 5pm on 14 July.

Exhibitor Marquees close at 5:30pm each day (5pm on Sunday) but evening events and catering are available until 9pm on Friday and Saturday evenings for ticket holders to stay and make the most of their visit.

Find out more on the Bird Fair website, where tickets are still available.
