An Oakham householder had a surprise this morning (Sun) when he spotted a budgie sitting on his garden table.

The man, who lives in Stamford Road, got in touch with Oakham Nub News at about 9am to say the blue bird was in his back garden and might be lost.

He said: "I looked out of my bedroom window this morning, without my glasses on, and thought I saw a blue pigeon on my garden table.

"Got my glasses - and saw it was a blue budgie.

"During an attempt to offer it some grain it flew into a tree, where it stayed preening for about half an hour.

"After breakfast I noticed it had gone."

If anyone has lost a blue budgie, email [email protected] for more information.
