Local Elections for Rutland County Council took place yesterday, Thursday 2 May, with 10 of the county's 15 electoral wards contested.

The results of the election are as follows:

Barleythorpe – Contested

Abigail MACARTNEY (Liberal Democrats)

Exton - Uncontested

The following candidate was elected:

June FOX (Conservative)

Greetham - Uncontested

Nick BEGY (Conservative)

Ketton - Contested

Gordon BROWN (Conservative)

The Count for Rutland's 2019 Local Elections took place at Victoria Hall in Oakham today (Friday May 3) and was completed at 4.40pm.

Overall turnout for the election was 41.5%. The ward with the highest overall turnout was Lyddington (48%).

Rutland County Council issued 2,996 Postal Votes in the run-up to the election, of which 1,867 (62.3%) were returned.

Rutland County Council has 27 seats and, following the election, now comprises: 15 Conservative councillors, eight Independent councillors, three Liberal Democrat councillors and one Green councillor.

Councillors will gather at Rutland's Annual Council meeting on Monday, May 13 to elect a Chairman, Leader and other key positions for the new administration.
