A body was found at an Oakham venue this weekend.

Following a heavy police presence outside Oakham bar and club, Jinky's, this weekend, Leicestershire and Rutland Police have confirmed that a body was discovered in Rutland's market town on Sunday morning, 10 March 2024.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "A file is being prepared for HM Coroner after the death of a man in Oakham at the weekend.

"Officers were called to Melton Road around 8.45am yesterday, Sunday 10 March, after a man was found in the garden of a premises.

"The ambulance service also attended and sadly he was pronounced deceased at the scene 

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and identification of the deceased will be a matter for HM Coroner."

No further information has yet been shared.

Speculation on social media is being discouraged out of respect for the deceased and family members.
