The Rutland Flower Club has had a busy diary of events during the first part of June including attending the Rutland County Show on Sunday 2 June, displays in Oakham Library and the Castle for D-Day and its Spring Workshop "Courting Contemporary" on Saturday 8 June 2024.

Not to mention the Club's meeting on Tuesday 2 June 2024 when Louisa Rigden demonstrated her "Regal Flowers" theme with some amazing and truly regal floral arrangements.

And there is more to come from the welcoming group throughout 2024.

Floral arrangements, posies, bracelets, bookmarks and buttonholes were all on display and available to take away by members of the public at the Club's stand in the Horticultural Marquee at the Rutland County Show on Sunday 2 June 2024.

A spokesperson for the group said: "A fantastic day both weather wise and for the Club when lots of interest was generated in joining the Rutland Flower Club and raising its profile amongst the Rutland community. A great team effort and we look forward to attending the Show again in 2025 – see you there!"

Two of the Club's members also created some poignant and beautiful displays for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings which were available to view in Oakham Library and the Castle.

The Club's Horseshoe was aptly decorated with appropriate flowers and displayed in the Castle and a Landing Craft on Sword Beach was arranged with appropriate flowers and colours and placed in Oakham Library, together with an excellent book display for the public to view.

On Saturday 8 June, the Club enjoyed its first Workshop of the year at Wing Village Hall where members and visitors alike could attend and learn some beautiful "Courting Contemporary" designs, expertly tutored by Chairman, Sue Sewell.

Not forgetting the amazing cream scones and refreshments mid-afternoon. Great fun and friendship with flowers was enjoyed by all.

The group added: "We have an exciting diary of events scheduled for the remainder of 2024 including excellent demonstrations, another Workshop and a fun Christmas exhibition."

The team concluded: "We look forward to welcoming you!"
