The call is out for Oakham residents to join its town council.

Oakham Town Council reports a number of vacancies and would like volunteers to become involved.

The role of the town council includes maintaining parks and the use of the park by the public and other organisations.

The town council has posted on social media: "If you are passionate about your local community, we need you!

"We need people from all backgrounds and experiences to join us to work together to ensure Oakham remains a safe and enjoyable place to live for all its residents.

"There are no prerequisites to joining, you do not have to have had prior experience of local councils, all you need is enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Everybody's personal experience can be helpful when it comes to healthy debate and training courses are available to help councillors fulfil the role.
