Campaign launched for people to become On-Call firefighters in Rutland and Leicestershire

Applications for On-Call firefighters for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue have begun.

The recruitment website will be taking application until 23:59 hours on Sunday 23 May 2021, so don't delay!

Feeling inspired? The Service is running a number of virtual workshops, which are designed to support and guide potential applicants through the On-Call firefighter recruitment process, covering topics such as what to expect with the application, fitness and nutrition, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Virtual workshops are taking place on the following dates:

Wednesday 19 May; 6:45pm to 7:45pm

Wednesday 19 May; 8pm to 9pm

The Service is also holding a 'Have a Go' taster day at Central Fire Station, in Leicester this Sunday (16 May). The day will give you an insight into what the role of a firefighter entails, as well as the required strength, fitness and aptitude levels. It will also give you the chance to find out more information on how rewarding a career in the fire and rescue service is, and what paths of progression there are.

This 'Have a Go' day* is for anyone who is interested in applying to become an On-Call firefighter, but not sure what the job entails or where to start. The event is free, and there is no obligation to apply to be an On-Call firefighter if you attend, but the service would love it if you do!

Equally, you do not have to attend a 'Have a Go' day to be eligible to apply; it simply gives you an understanding of the job-related tests you will need to successfully complete upon application, and allows you to ask any questions you may have.

  • Please note: This will be a COVID-19 compliant event and government guidance will be adhered to.
