This week, 22 - 29 January, is Neighbourhood Policing Week across the country, and Rutland's Policing team have kicked it off with the discovery of a cannabis grow found in the local area.

Organised nationally, the initiative recognises the vital and important work done by local neighbourhood policing teams, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and volunteer staff on a daily basis across the area.

The Rutland team have launched the week with an impressive find in a local home following intelligence from residents.

PCSO Lauren Lyall said: "It is neighbourhood Policing week commencing today, this morning I completed a housing visit with Platform Housing off of Intelligence that the suspect property had a cannabis grow inside.

"It's fair to say a job well done after a cannabis grow within the property has been destroyed based off of the intelligence that the residents within the community had given.

"Thank you to PC Angel and PC McKinnon who came to assist me in the removal of the grow."

PC Lyall also shared a photo of the grow on the team's social media. Image credit: Rutland Police / Facebook.

PC McKinnon is a recent addition to the team and is covering Rutland South. Taking over from PC Icke, he said that he has "very big shoes to fill" but is feeling "very lucky to have the opportunity to serve the communities that make up our truly beautiful little county."

The team concluded: "Keep an eye out on Facebook for the rest of the updates for neighbourhood policing week."
