A Mill Street pub that has been open for just over a year is being taken over by new owners.

The Angler on Mill Street, Oakham, is under new ownership after being transformed by the former owner last September.

Formerly Orbis, The Angler was launched by Jonathan Spencer in September 2022, and was met with mixed reviews.

Orbis, also owned by Mr Spencer, had been a popular spot for tapas-style meals since summer 2021, but the large venue combined with the Cost of Living Crisis proved a hefty hurdle for the team who, despite rebranding to The Angler just over a year later, have decided to give up the business - although Mr Spencer continues to run Bills Bar on Oakham High Street.

The Angler saw a range of menu changes, a full rebrand and redecorate and a range of offers, but was not to be for Mr Spencer.

The venue is now being taken over by C & A Pubs, who run a range of venues across the midlands and north of England.
